RasTuS 07-09-2004, 01:48 PM well i have had this guy modeled and uvw'd for a while but have not been game to texture him until now
so today i decided since my reel is almost ready i opened him up (looked and uv's and shuddered) so i remapped him and started to texture. he is about 2350 tri's and with the bow arrows and blade about 2950 and he had a 512 for the body a 256 for the cloak and a 256 for the rest of his stuff.

the textures seem really flat. I can tell you have some texture put to them, but they look really boring. They need some dynamic effects to goive him character. Since he's probably from the woods, his suit would perhaps have some mud stains or maybe some tears in the fabric you could paint on it? Nothing going to be that clean. Just work on giving him some character. Some things to ask yourself-
Where is he from?
What type of habitat does he live in? (town, castle, forest?
Does he have any scars from previous battles?
Things like that can add character and help with texturing. Overall a good start though.

Yeah, I'd suggest painting in some more cloth folds, and upping the contrast in some areas too.
I'd say that some cloth folding needs to show up at the back of the hood, and maybe some longer less contrasted ones on the long robe coming down the back.
Some small wrinkles around the back of the knees would look good too.
