View Full Version : Need bios drivers for quadro fx 1100
dudders 07-09-2004, 10:51 AM Hi!
I just bought a quadro fx 1100 from ebay and the thing didnt come with a drivers disk. The codes on the card suggest that it is a Hewlett Packard card as it says "HP Spare No:" , I could be wrong on this of course.
Anyways, does anyone know where i can get bios drivers for this card from or any experience with installing etc
thanks

You'll have to contact HP. I don't know why you'd need a bios update though.
The bios on graphics cards resides on the card (in a ROM, i believe). Once you uninstall your old card drivers and pull it out of your PC it's gone (though there will probably be a couple of registry entries and folders left over).
To install your new card you need to:
1 go to nvidia and download the drivers for your new card.
2 go to add/remove programs and uninstall your current graphics card drivers.
3 shut down and unplug the system.
4 Remove the old card from the AGP slot and replace with your new FX1100. Make sure it's seated corrcetly in the AGP slot.
5 Turn machine back on and login as administrator
6 Cancel the found new hardware thingy.
7 Navigate to your F1100 drivers you downloaded and install.
DO NOT EVER install the version windows update tells you to. Those drivers are crap - once installed you can't remove them.

Thanks!

When i startup it briefly flashes up a screen saying the name of the graphics card before the bios bit comes up, i imagined that this was a bios thing that had been installed when installing the card and therefore had to be updated. Does this bit come from the card then? and not any software? I didnt realise this. If thats the case then i shouldnt have a problem.
Thanks again for your helpful reply and advice.
You've got nothing to worry about regarding that message.
The BIOS is a piece of software that manages the components of the card (i think). All Nvidia cards that I've ever owned/used (geforce2, 4 and Quadro 750) displayed the same info at start up.

There is no BIOS driver. The videocard BIOS ROM exists on the videocard itself. Once you pull out your old videocard, it's no longer part of your system. The only thing you should need are nvidia drivers, which you can download from www.nvidia.com (http://www.nvidia.com/).
