I have relocate the thread from Gallery finished work .:

Amazon warriors
This was my entry into 19th cgchat competition .
MMORP creatures :

My inital goal was to create 3 variations of female creatures. I decided to do diffrent style of armor , decorations and materials .The idea was to make those armors as detailed as possible with diffrent patterns and alot of colors . The skin tone was the hardest part with texturing . I wanted to create a contrast between armor colors and skin . The final decision was to use dark skin tones to pop up the armor . Also I had to come up with faster texturing proces of painting metal . The easiest way was to paint all of the metals in gray on the same layer for easier control . And than on top of that , using verious metal textures and diffrent layers with colors , tones , etc. to create realisticly looking metal . The crucial part for better shading was to use verious gradients . This helped me to achive sort of reflective looking surface without using reflection map in max .Final textures had about 150 layers or more and it was easy adjusting and changing blending modes for verious layers .

THe modeling was simple and yet it had to be consistent throughout individual armors. I wanted to have more detailed armor with modeled forms of skulls , lions , hawks , etc . It was abit challanging at first but I managed to do them in allowed polycount .The easiest rout was to make the base model with limited polycount and than on top of that diffrent styles of armor .All are about 1600 polygons .

Anyway here is a wallpaper of them : I hope you dig it .

pretty good work man, nice level of detail with such a low poly count. Great job with sticking in the same style between characters!

Looks decent, but I don't like the double jointed legs... They look akward, and if those things tried to actually stand on those, they'd either break them or fall over. Take a look at more cat legs to get an idea for how they should look, I think... the rear legs... It should look more like they're standing on their toes with extra long feet, more than anything...

Hey these kinda remind me of the cat woman in Diablo 2, the ones that threw exploding stuff at you in the desert level.

I think the legs are strange, here is a drawing of a cat skeleton(leftside):

Notice the toes start very far up the foot. Also there is a heel, and the muscles of the upper leg(maybe like our hamstrings) hit the center of the lower leg to have better leverage to run.

You can more than likely find a cat skeleton at your local Science or Natural History Museum:)

That's what I was trying to say. You did it much better than me. =P

Model looks really good, and textures. I just dont like the red human nose, makes em look..clownish. Still, great stuff!
