A while ago a magazine in great britain gave away C4DSE5... and I'm curious

How many of you guys think it could be well supported by the knowledgebase in this forum?

Or is it too old and different?

I'd just like to know if I can recomend this forum to people I encounter who happen to have it.

It was PCFormat that had the older version, unfortunatly it was Cinema 5 so it's a very old version.

Personally, that was before I had tried Cinema 7 and I found 5 very hard to use.

Might be somewhat hard but it is understandable like any other program. Its not that hard even preferable in some aspects, I’ve seen some pretty amazing stuff done in it. Which goes to show again its not so much the program as it it’s the creativity and determination of the artist.

In the second sentence I meant bad not hard...
As for your question Grey I think that it would be possible to be supported here, but under the limitation that some people might not have used it. So they C4DSE5 people might only be presented with concepts and general ideas to help them. After all it was designed by a different company, wasn’t it?

I know there are a couple of us that started in the XL 5 era, but for most that started in XL 6 and up the C4D 5.x group of apps was quite different, the interface was all floating window (which honestly upset me at first when they got rid of them in XL 6) and the tool base was quite simpler I must say, not much changes in lights and such, but the polygon editing wad the big change for me, the addition of hypernurbs, better point and poly tools and such much nicer looking interface, better animation tools and timeline. It might be a little hard for some things, but many tools still work the same basic way like the nurbs tools are still very similar and such.

Grey - all i mean is that while my fellow students were producing their final renders/presentation boards on 3d studio 4, I was one of two mac users running ver5 of c4d - and so had a much easier time of things!

thats cause C4D v5 was a neat interface and studio4 was well look at max fivwe, its still the most unintuitive interface.
