View Full Version : Architecture: Red Room
Werre 07-06-2004, 08:49 PM This is my first work with the Mentalray renderer in the new Viz 2005. I was focusing on displacement mapping (carpet & ceiling) and the global illumination. I also tried out one of the native mentalray translucency shaders on the blinds. All critiques welcomed.

Generally I think that the scene is fine, but you have all of your lighting right back in that corner - it might make more sense to close those blinds and open the other ones. The table would benefit from some fresnel falloff to make it look more realistic.
The carpet looks really good though, I've often wondered the best way to get a realistic looking carpet, and this may be it.

Yea, I agree with the above critique. The other blinds need to be opened. I think the table set is the best looking piece of your shot, and with the light cascading through, it would look even more brilliant, but that's my opinion. Other than that, it's a well rounded render. Nice Job!!

Thanks for your advice. I think I'll give that a try and repost.
