View Full Version : An Epic Tale
DustOrgan 07-26-2002, 01:05 PM Manifesto!
This is an animation I made. It is a very deep and meaningful tale about lies, deception and the nature of mankind. I hope that you all like it and appologise for the large file size. Its 9megs as far as I can remember... anyway. Have an open mind.
Im hoping to win an oscar.

Oh, one more thing... you need to turn your sound up real loud for the full experience.

that was just too wacky. I'm not supposed to be able to read all that text, am I? :hmm:
..and it's "Jean-Claude Van Damme"
:surprised  :wip:

The Van Dam I am reffering to is a completely different person...
(plus that way I am not really offending him)
((even though I make him look like a god))
((( in the future )))
what text things? Perhaps you are seeing things <snigger>

As I stand here stunned, confused, and a little bit shook up in my soul, I must say that the point and plot of that was the most eluding plot I have ever seen.

:argh: :insane: :argh:
WOW,
After watching that I feel like one of the guys in the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. A little trippy and confused. That was a totally unique experience, and I don't think I will ever be the same.
Thank you------SGT.Squeaks
uhm... okay well that was weird...
>Have an open mind.
>Im hoping to win an oscar.
you are?... well maybe it's just me, but i don't think this is oscar-material...
then again people have sold blank canvases for millions of dollars...
I would say the reaction people will have is that of plain confusion... i personally am an animator and i need to understand what's going on, which is why abstract art doesn't appeal to me _at all_.
Try finding an abstract art/animation forum and post it there, you might get a much bigger and better response.
it _was_ abstract... wasn't it? lol
good luck man

Again, this is a joke right? You can't be thinking rationally if is it's not.
I dont want to be cruel....but for God's sake man, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING????
And what's with the annoying text flashing across the screen for 1 frame?
Spelling Van Damme's name wrong makes you look illiterate, unless there is another Jean Claude Van Damme out there. In any case, I think you should try to make it MORE random and incomprehensible, if that's even possible.
On a serious note, you should learn the basics of filmmaking before "hoping for an oscar" Things like plot structure, scene composition, scene transitions, etc, etc. These are the absolute minimum requirements, and your little "manifesto" shows no semblance of film, it just an incomprehensible mish-mash of...well I dont know what it was. In any case, good luck my friend. Glad to see you know how to work the pencil test machine.

Uhh...
you... were not supposed to take it seriously... are you mental?
This was something I did plainly because there was animation paper lying about and I wanted to use it. The Whole Jean Claude Van Damme was a joke, do you remember what a joke is? No?
"Manifesto!" was taken from an Anglo-Japanese magazine in which the author was commenting on how the most popular thing in London right now is "crisps", you may call these "chips". He ended the article with "manifesto". I found this rather funny, but I guess you had to be there.
Granted this forum is supposed to be for finished pieces, so maybe this should not have been posted here. I just figured you might like a little break from seeing another high poly car and/or spaceship flying around in lensflare populated space/spinning around in a showroom with a very shiny coating of wax.
I guess in future I will not :
A> Make jokes
B> Talk in the library
C> Disrespect the mac
Appologies to you all,
(I am laughing on the inside however)

Dude, don't get offended. I made my remarks half-thinking that you WERE joking anyway. Unfortunately there ARE some ill-informed members of this forum (who shall remain nameless) who have posted random messes that they honestly thought were masterpieces of le cinema. In fact, now that I know that you were joking about the "oscar" remark, I will say what is truly on my mind. Your little piece of animation was completey insane, and you need to seek professional therapy to deal with your inner demons. Please proceed directly to the nearest psychiatric institution.
"Van-Damage"!!?? As Mr. Brown says: good grief. And good day to you sir!
P.S. I know sarcasm is sometimes difficult to portray in writing, but it's even harder in psychotic animated sequences.

****in hilarious. It was so disjointed I needed a full day's worth of lithium and a week's worth of therapy. What was the music at the end it?-was insidiously catchy. I liked your joke, although posting "joke" threads is a dangerous activity, if you are in fact taken seriously. Nonetheless I had a marvy few minutes.

ah ah ha, dont worry Bub~
It is hard for me to get offended about stuff~
I find that people are not willing to take the bait on the internet to play along with a joke, but you sir have pulled it off with style~
I know what you mean about ill-informed members however... sometimes when I read stuff on this forum, there are obviously things wrong with someones model/picture... but people will still say "wow man, that looks awesome... I cant wait to see it moving".
Perhaps we are asking too much in this crazy world of one night stands and high powered sports cars.
that's not a very open mind you have there, DustOrgan. even though you go on about having an open mind, you yourself fail to appreciate the fact that everyone will not find this funny.

Then they shouldnt look at it bubba~
I cant remember saying I have an open mind...
People dont find Dawsons Creek funny, but they still put it on TV.
then they shouldn't look at it? that was weak. by putting this up here you're running the risk of getting negative comments, you moron.
-"you didn't like it? WHY THE HELL'D YOU WATCH IT YOU HUMORLESS OGRE?!"
DustOrgan

OooOOOOooo.... Negative comments~
So exciting.
I am going to resist fighting this one because it is far too easy.
You win.
alright, i bow down to your obviously superior intelligence.

Ah.
Perhaps we both win.
