View Full Version : Killer Bean 2.1 - Digitally Remastered
Jeff Lew 07-06-2004, 06:49 AM http://www.jefflew.com/KB2_digitallyremastered.jpg
Hi Folks,
Time to rehash some old stuff! :hmm: I just put Killer Bean 2.1 online. It is the "Digitally Remastered" version of the original from 2000.
The original had lots of problems, namely the low res textures. I upgraded a lot of the textures in the warehouse. The quality of the depth of field is better and the video encoding is much much better. Everything else is relatively the same. Of course there are still many little problems which won't be addressed (not touching this thing anymore), but I am much happier with this cleaner version than the original.

Jeff, my kids and I have been watching the original several times this week. My children think it's hilarious (especially the butt shakin shot, and the weeping on the toilet shot).
The music is great and the cinematography is very well done.
This is a classic! And remastered now! Hooyah!
awesome!! i thought the original was pretty great already!

I am so glad I saw this thread, because I had heard of this movie and saw some nice praise on some other site (can't remember where) but I couldn't get a link that worked, and now I finally got to see this. I didn't see the original, but the things you mentioned, such as the depth of field, seemed very good. I liked the lighting and effects you used also, particularly the muzzle flash and 'bullet-time' effects. And then of course there is the animation, which is just really incredible. And not only is the animation wonderful, but the movie is funny and entertaining. The whole action sequence is better than those in lots of movies, and seemed very well thought out. I'm so glad I finally got to see this, because it is amazing.

Jeff,
I've loved the Killer Bean since it came out originally. It's the reason why I started animation! Thanks for bringing us the Killer Bean.

I just downloaded the new version. Thanks for making it available!
I totally relate to the Killer Bean's problem. I have neighbors just like that. On a weekday when I have to get up early for work, They start band practice at 2 in the morning!
I don't think any of them even know how to play an instrument. Is the Killer Bean for hire!!
One thing I noticed watching it this time: When the bean on the motorcycle goes up the ramp at the beginning of the party, his wheels go through to the other side. I never noticed that before.

Hi Jeff
The Killer Bean is still my wallpaper & has been since 2000, I started using Animation Master & now Max because of that pesky caffiene rich assassin & have shared the joys of KB with all I come in contact with. I am finally seriously studying 3d animation now all thanks to your initial inspiration. Keep inspiring the punters.

Thanks for the great comments, guys. I didn't think people still read this thread. Some news: the transfer bandwidth for the "ultimate" edition has been upped from 35 gigs to 200 gigs a month. So more people will have a chance to download it.
As for KB3, no news just yet. It's gonna take a long time. :)
