View Full Version : Need Help: Metal Brushing With Paint

Hi all

Iám new here maybe I can do more exp here on this forum.
I do 3d Modelling 2d Skinning and video editing but nvm

I wanna make some skins for my planes, tanks etc but I want know how I can do metal like this? :cry:

Is there someone that got an good tutorial for it? with some pictures where the tools are etc? For Adobe Photosho 7 or 8CS ''I use 8CS''

Well, depending on what package you're using, this may be a bit different, but in general I'd first make a paint texture (red with some color variation, maybe a few blackish splotches on it so it's not super clean), then map this to your object as a lambert shader. Next make a metal shader of some kind, which can be anything from a reflection map to true raytraced brushed metal (depending on what renderer you're using). Place this shader as the second material in a blend shader (or whatever this kind of material is called in your 3d software). shader 1 is your paint shader. Then paint a black and white image called a mask in photoshop that's white where you want to see the paint, and black where you want to see the metal, that way you can blend betwene your two different kinds of shaders. Painting the mask is as simple as using a few hard edged brushes to make all those knicks and scratches, and placing them at the corners of your object. Hope something in there helps.
