We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* 640 x 480 or 480 x 640
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" o plagiarizing.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!

Burning Books - 45mins Painter/Wacom/Oils

http://img72.photobucket.com/albums/v220/kieronh/DSG/Farenheit-451.jpg

Not used the Oils in Painter so thought I'd give it a bash, need a few more goes with it I think to figure out the best brush methods. Kinda fun though.

Cheers,
Kieron

Nice entries so far.

Kieronh-Really like the sky and the fire
Cyanid-Going down some right roads, perhaps more time could have been enough for a polishing

This took about 1 hour in photoshop with a aiptek tablet.http://www.tbxr.com/crap/fireman.jpg

Here's my second attempt at this. It took less time than the other and I used the same applications:

Keep getting that too. it wants me to install a "certifikat" to server1.serverplexis.com ????
but it stoped asking for username and password for Cyborgguineapig (http://www.cgtalk.com/member.php?u=38157)'s webpage hehe

BTW nice work all.

nilk narf- You might want to stop using so many basic photoshop filters becuase its rather obvious your using them and it really doesnt do to much for the image. Instead of using filters try recreating the effect your self or use it as a transparency but defintally keep at it:thumbsup:

http://www.stephanart.com/gallery/albums/Speedpaintings/79sonnenenergie.jpg 1 hour or so. I wanted to take this further but I don't have the time

idea and lines from Jay Caboney

I'd say we dump the book title themes for now. This thing is kinda slowing down.

Hi

I am only a new member but have a opinion kind of directed to the moderatoron the topics of late:
Arnt the book and movie titles going on a bit, I mean they already have established themes and compared to some of the really clever topic suggestions only have limited interpretation.
How about putting more topics that inspire clever and varied responses so that a bit of creative and lateral thinking can be employed.
It is also good to remember not everyone has read the books.

anyway it is just an opinion.

thanks

I dislike drawing about a book I haven't read, I prefer the old-style-topics...

...just an opinion.

The book titles leave me disinterested too, I definitly prefere the more obscure. It gives you more scope for creativity.

I agree with telemaco...or choose at least a book everyone knows, and with a open title, not fahrenheit 451(it's quite abstract and specific), but for example: "IT"

maybe next weeks topic is better than book titles...

Plus Roberto spelled "Fahrenheit" incorrectly.. . . and Jurassic. :D

Here's mine

While listening to the Eels' Electro-Shock Blues, I "revisited" my Burn Out picture. Rather than burn down a second perfectly good house, I removed the foreground characters, enlarged the house and told the guy in the bg to REALLY torch it. Sorry if I bent the rules a bit.

The synopsis I read for 451 reminded me of 1984. I figured they would have to "reeducate" anybody found to be reading books, so why not have the firemen also arrest the person in question? I wanted to paint the criminal with a "Frodo Lives" tee shirt, but couldn't in this pose. About 1.5 hours in Photoshop.

I don't think it should really matter if the subject is related to a movie or a book. Shouldn't it be an interpretation on what you think the title is? Jurassic Park could be an home for old people. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea could be about baseball. Just like the sketch, I think the title is an interpretation.

Also, when did people become too lazy to research/reference for art? Just an observation.
