View Full Version : connecting duplicate instance
Chappo 02-01-2002, 03:32 AM Okay.... how can i connect the main object with its duplicate instance without having a creaseline in the centre ??
is the "combine" tool in the polygon menu enough for the job or are there other combine tools out there that does the job even better , faster and easier ???
Thanks in advance...
P.s. it's for headmodeling

this is my technique for polygons.
ok, you have the inside column of edges/vertices that runs exactly down the center of the head... then make sure you have another column of edges/vertices that follows the inside column in y and z.
I'm usually concious of this throughout modelling, so i don't have a big "clean-up" at the end.
when connecting the two halves you need to combine them (as you've done)...but this only makes two objects one. It doesnt actually merge the geometry into one connected mesh, so you need to highlight the center vertices and use the merge vertices command... (a .001 distance works well for me).
The faster and easier method you asked about is the mirror and merge command. But i gave up using that as it sometimes connects weird things, like sometimes it connects one ear to the other, or the inside of eyelids etc..
anyway, i'm probably going into too much detail here :)
hope it helps.
