i know its possible to link fbx files to make 1 nice big fbx motion file..
eg.. stop, stop to walk, walk to run, etc etc
anybody any tutorials or tips on this ?

this sounds like basics in mb. did you worked through the starting-tutorial from kaydara? this tut is really nice and you get an excellent overview about the features of mb.
maybe take a look to at the kaydara knowledge desk at their website!

The best way that I can think of this is to use the story board and just place them one after the other. Then save the file and you have many motions in one fbx file.

1, make sure your skeleton's name in each moitonclip files are the same.
2, Open one of it.
3, and then open another one and choose merge and press append.
4, If you find the take's name is the same as you already append, just rename it.
5, Save as the file.
