wind3D 07-02-2004, 06:34 AM hey everyone
i'd appreicate some advise / critique on these renders. its only about 30% done, ive got a lot to detail to fill in, but was wondering what you experienced beings thought so far.
thanks for your input.

this is my latest render. its only one side of the structure, it's an earlier version, but it gives a good idea of what the other side looks like.

Win3D,
Just a begininer like you but like it so far. Not really much to critique as just started but good clean geometry and intriguing shapes.
Whats the background story or just modelling for fun and take it as it comes? Keep at it.

Has a great feel. The geometry alone does feel like a military or scientific high security installation. The triangles in particular do a lot for that feeling. Reminds me of chemical warning signs or something. I've been playing Half Life and this reminded me of that.
Keep up the good work! Oh, and don't forget to bevel the edges. The corners are all too sharp. Real world objects don't have sharp corners, so soften them. Just put a VERY small bevel on them. They'll look more real that way.

thanks for all the kind comments / suggestions!
i certainly appreciate them.
as i said, lots of detail to add in, this includes adding textures to dirty up the project, and also beveling the egdes to give it a more realistic feel.
as far as the storyline goes, no real storyline, one of you here knows im definately a supporter of going wherever my mind takes me, and tapping into myself as much as i can.
but i'm probably going to turn this into an animation, or more a project to heighten my animation skills. im thinking maybe a military brawl out with guns and weapons.
the renders ive shown so far are only 10% of the whole complex. it's a very big scene.
here's a monitor im going to incorporate into the scene somewhere.
lots of work to be done on this as well, none of my work is EVER considered finished, because there's always something you can change / add. Art for me, is definately an ongoing process! note the texture on this tv. it's a space hull ;) it will almost certainly be replaced with something more appropriate when it comes time to add her in.
