FabioDona 07-25-2002, 08:21 PM In another topic i had said i am working in a guitar...

pretty cool!!!
But might I make a suggestion. I don't really know what the parts of a guitar are called but if you bevel those rectangular things in the middle it will make it look much more realistic. The reason is that in real life few things actually have a 90 degree angle. if you look at the edge of a table that looks like it has a 90 degree edge it actually has a rounded corner up close even if that corner is only rounded 1mm. and since it is rounded a slight amount it will catch light. But in 3d a 90 degree angle is actually a 90 degree angle, so the corner will not catch light. But by beveling we can make it catch light like a real corner and thus make it look more realistic.
If that made no sense then here is a link to a page that will explain it all.

Hope that helps. and once again. Great guitar!!! :airguitar

i want to see bumping on the buttons for amplitude and volume.

Yes, I know :p
but in those parts that you said, had a micro bevel, imperceptible to see in this angle, because it is really as they are, thereīs no perceptible bevel on this really
I have the original guitar here, I guarantee that they are identical as you see in this render
some real images, but not exaclty same model

Good work. how did you model that body?
Subpatch?
Do you have a mind to write a tutorial about that?

:applause: Absolutely brilliant, love the look of the instrument, can almost get that smokey bar smell off it, although it could look a bit grimy as though its been played for years.

First, thanks a lot for all!
The inspiration for this work is a nice render in the newtek gallery, another fender guitar, but a stratocaster model
To fastfinger:
The original ideia would be write an tutorial during the process of creation and at the same time improve my modeling skills, I choose this guitar because it is a wonderful model, a classic instrument, and i have it! :airguitar
But during my first pass in modeling I gave up to write the tutorial, but I think to write an article about this, describing all the techniques involved ;)
yes, the body and the neck was done with Subpatchs
But itīs not still completed!!!
At this time iīm working in shading and lighting, this image isnīt real yet! :shame:
wait to see more renders :wip:
and excuse for my strange grammar again, I never had english lessons

You might want to take down the reflectivity on the bridge though ;)
I've always been a Fender girl, myself

AWESOME, I am soooooooo happy to see this. I work at Fender and have been dieing to see one of you guys take a shot at one of our guitars. I have seen an Ibanez and a Les Paul, but not a Fender. I must say it was worth the wait, this is a great model. I tinker in 3DMAX, and guitars were the first thing I tried, with only a moderate success. Oh, and I love the Jazzmaster too, and the Jaguar. I am glad to see that you didn't just do a Strat or Tele. Anyhow, GREAT JOB, LOOKS GOOD.

Thanks Telecaustic!
At this moment, iīm thinking in making an animation with this guitar and a caricature of Jimi Hendrix
yes, i know, this isnīt Hendrixīs guitar, but it goes to be good also
Leigh, thanks, I lowered the reflectivity a bit, 15% :p

beatiful render, but man did fender ever put out an hedious guitar! I found a corelation with bad music and ugly guitars, i.e,. white stripes.

Whatever, Idiot.
wow
your guitar is awesome!
just a few points:
I think that the reflect on the chromed part at the end of the chords is to soft, may be if you change or contrast the reflect map you can get more deep black points, that would looks better
and them it seems to me that the red part in the middle of the guitar is a bit saturated
Keep Up the good work!:applause:

Thanks JJ3d , your work is awesome too! :bounce:
Yes, the metal can be improved, but i donīt make more renders at this moment, iīm going to make an animation with this
but it was a thing to have done yes
in the red part that you related, I think the saturation is good
i like the final effect, itīs all lightwave procedurals ;)
thanks, and excuse if my grammar was wrong...

Don't be sorry Electropulse, maybe I over-reacted a bit. I do think it is idiotic to say a Fender guitar looks hedious for two reasons.
1. It is the most emulated(ripped-off) guitar on the planet, indicating it is in favor, not hedious.
2. The Beastie Boys the band that did"No Sleep till Brooklyn" Played Fenders on that CD, therefore putting a twist of irony to your opinion which is completely unrelated to CG.
I shouldn't have called you an Idiot though. Just uninformed.

LOL! ok man this particular model(the jazzmaster) is the most beatiful guitar ever made by Fender
and of course the jaguar is the runner up. :airguitar
btw, the most copied guitar on the planet is the Fender Stratocaster which is sad because it is one of the most hedious guitars ever made!
lighten up, dude!:buttrock:
