I'm in the process of choosing a new motherboard and processor for 3DS 4.2. Can someone advise me as to which of the following options will run the application more efficiently and why?

1. Dual Pentium III 1.3Ghz w/133mhz bus and 512MB Ram

2. Athlon XP 2.3Ghz w/333mhz bus and 512MB Ram

Seems a narrow choice, but I'd go for the Athlon - why?
More clock cycles, faster front side bus.

Did you really mean P3 ? Don't think they come in 1.3 Ghz.

i think he means 3 because he wrote III.. thats a long way off 4 or IV or what ever the roman numeral is for 4!

Get the Athlon.. hands down. Dual processors at 1.3 each isn't going to beat a 2.3. The performance gains of dualies are not a direct sum, there's quite a bit of overhead. Why such legacy procs? A bit of a budge 'eh?

What about Athlon 64 bit , is it good for max? Will it enhance greatly the render time ? Has anyone tried it here?
