I don't know why you can't get to your option box. But are you trying to render an animation and getting only one frame? Then you might be rendering a perspective view rather than your camera, or need to set your start & stop frames....in your render globals settings.

I believe the option box is disabled because by default MR uses all processors on your system (or is it up to 4 or something?).
Anyhoo, have you checked your render globals? Namely the Frame/Animation Ext, Start Frame and End Frame attributes?

Xengineer...
If i read you correct it means that mental ray will not render an animation using the perspective view camera? One would need to set up up a separate camera... right?
If this is the case, would the the same apply to Maya doing a 'software' render to a format other than .iff? Grateful if you could visit my problem here:

If that link doesn't work (i'm new to this forum :)) please search/look at my subject:
"Rendering problems - Maya will only software render IFF format"
Grateful for any help... Thanks...

I try to steer people away from using the batch render from within the GUI. There are just too many problems that occur with it and it's nearly impossible to troubleshoot, not to mention it seems to work sporadically. I'd suggest rendering the scene from the command line, not only will it render faster, but you will be able to diagnose rendering problems much easier. Make sure you change the Translation option in the mental ray render globals to Detailed or Verbose messages instead of Warning.

I was replying more generally, so I suppose to the both of you and anyone else reading the thread. I wish they would just take the batch render option out of Maya completely and just have the command line rendering instead, either that or just fix the thing because IMO it's pretty much useless when compared to rendering from the command line.
