View Full Version : Wheel Rotation Setup

I am trying to setup a wheel so that it will rotate without me having to manually key the X rotations...

Basically I want an expression that will turn the wheel for me. I have tried all the basic ones that rotate the wheel depending on the Z translation of the vehicle but these don't work when the vehicle is turned in a different direction i.e not traveling directly along the Z path...

Has anyone solved this problem ?

you could use curves to drive the tires and then use the "arcLengthDimension" to get the position on the curve to drive an expression which is controling the rotation from the given radius of the tire and the value you get from the arcLengthDimension. don't ask me how to get the admeasurement from the radius. i think it was something with Pi*r*r or so.

Sounds good but I don't really want the wheels to be locked to curves, or controlled by them...

eyeyeye my mother would say :)

you could also grab the absolute worldpos of each tire for a frame, look for the worldpos of the frame before and calculate the distance. maybe :hmm:
