Heres some WIP renders of Urian. He's about 4300 polys, might have to cut a few for the game. I'm going to work finish up the main layout of his map, then put in some texture details, then some color variations/shifts. Modeled in Max, textured in Photoshop 6.

Excellent crotch shot! You have some very nice detail going on there (I mean the texture, not the crotch), and you're off to a good, solid start. You have a lot of good things going on here, I especially like the eyebrows. :D Did you shorten the forearms a bit already? That was my only concern about him earlier on, and I can not tell if it's a problem anymore. The hair might also use a little more 'sticking out' on top. Perhaps around a cow-lick on the back of the head. It looks a little bit like the he has a slight case of 'hat-hair'. I know you don't want to get too crazy with the hair because it would make him look like some "other" model.....but I think it could use a little more. Just a few thoughts from a drunken hoser. All and all, it's a great model and the powers that be should be very pleased with your progress! Good work.

I like this character. I'm with scott - the thick eyebrows are great. Gives him a lot of personality. Though I'm wondering why they are much darker than the rest of his hair. dye job? :)

He also has some giant trapezius muscles--did you intend this? They look strange to me being that big compared to the rest of his body.

I already told ya online that I really dig the leather leg guards.. but I'll say it again. I also really miss the green--the maroon just doesn't do it for me. Maybe you could bring back some hints of the green back. I dunno. That's just me.

What's the story behind this guy anyway?

Anyway those are my comments. Let's see the final!

My feeling on the color change was this: the majority of your model (hair, skin, leather, trimmings) is made up of reds, yellows, browns. The maroon just adds to that. I thought the bright greens and blues really made him stand out.

but once again, that's just me :p

How's the back of the model looking?

Really nice, smooth looking model. Could I just ask a question tho: How many and what size texture maps have you used?

Dude. Shag.

The model for this guy is all the way live. It ruv me longtime. The time you spent on it and referencing anatomy really payed off. Seriously sexy. There are a couple small issues with it (bend in the shin seems a little too abrupt, lips a little bit large) that I can see, but I think they can be chalked up to it being a low poly model. The lips are a stylistic choice that I'm not necessarily uncomfortable with but that don't seem to go with Howard's concept. Overall though both your best work to date and really excellent work by any standard.

The texture is really coming together, seems to be really well layed out. I especially like the face and agree with Scott and Adrian that the eyebrows are awesome and really lend him some real personality. I have a couple suggestions...I know you wanted to go for the Jubei thing with the green/brown and I think you could still make it work. I was playing SS4 last night and noted that the colors of his outfit were way less saturated than the ones that you had, which I think had alot to do with it. Also they're much closer in terms of value...it's a very brownish green and a very greenish brown: it's a very subtle shift. The last thing I think makes it work is that he's evenly divided, right at the waist, between green and brown. I think some of the problem is coming from how many different color shifts you have going...seems to make him seem cluttered whereas your model is really simple and streamlined. I really like the shorts, I think you should continued that theme across the rest of him, those designs are really interesting (the dots/bending lines) and I like the contrast of that yellow more than the white/black stripes.

Sweet dude, can't wait to see him farther along.
