View Full Version : Walk Cycle
Chrissy 07-25-2002, 12:54 AM Hi
I am doing a walk cycle, i have an ik handle in the leg from hip to ankle.
My question is how do you keep the foot in place when you move the root joint or hip joint forward to creat the forward motion to the next step. I find it either slides or goes into the ground
Please help i know there are alot of intelligent and experienced people out there:thumbsup:

The Learning Maya Character Rigging And Animation book from A/W is a really good book if you want to learn a well thought out approach to character animation.....Also The book learning Maya 4
Has a chapter dedicated to Character setup and Walk Cycle animation
You also might want to look up How to set up Expressions on your character.....

I think the problem you're having is with your splines in the graph editor. Set them to clamped. (go to graph editor window>animation editors>graph editor, select the spline, then it's tangents>clamped) The default is spline and when u try to make a walk cycle the foot often will move around a little or dip down. I had this same problem with the first animation i did.
