hey guys
im having problems mirroring the blend shapes on some of my characters. im using a plug in called "shape tools" from highend 3D. it works on some of my characters but on others it tells me that they cant be mirrored as they are not symmetrical. i know they are though. any suggestions as to what could be the prob?

I have not used that plugin since i didnt know it existed the time i was doing blendshapes. I was doing a project and needed to do blendshapes and i allways use other tools like wings and other apps. So i want to give a tip on how i made mirrored blendshapes on a personal project with the Houdini apprentice edition. Houdini has an edit op with mirror function since 6.5. Import your geometry to houdini and add edit operation with mirror turned on. Since Houdini has soft selection and sculpt mode built into edit its a very fast way to make deformations. And when youre done you simply export them back to maya again. Note! The shapes from houdini gets a different vertex order so you cant mix them with the shapes within maya so you need to import and export all to/from houdini. Its not the answer to your question but more a tip if you need another solution which works very good.

Houdini always maintains the correct point order. The real problem is that Maya's .obj exporter seems to output random point orders.
