took a look at your viking...and well...you did a real nice job on the modeling...I like the textures too..maybe they could use a little refining but still they are very good...the Al Pacino animation starts out really nice..but then the vikings eyes roll up in his head when ever he moves his head up and down..maybe try and relink them...also the tongue looks a bit unnatural in it's movements toward the middle to end of the clip...other than that I really like it...and the rest of your stuff is great too!keep us posted with this guy!

It's a great looking model, it's just lacking realisim, but if you were going for a definate CG look, then props! Looks great!

another great piece. :)

However the test animation was hard to watch. I'm all for snappy poses, but the lip synch was too choppy. The tongue also seemed to get in the way (not animated??)

looks cool but the tongue & the eyes are distracting in the animation

Awesome character. Great model and textures. Animation looks a little Hurky Jerky. I think all that could be solved by tweaking your curves a little. The lip sync is a little over done. You don't need to hit every phonim. The important ones are MB & P, L & Th, F & V and Q & W. Those are the sounds that telegraph the word and gennerally you'll hit those 2-3 frames early. Second is the vowels A, E and O. That's usually where the meat of the word is but if you've got two phonims close to one another always make sure you hit the telegraph sounds first. I generally never place two extreme mouth poses on adjacent frames (I always have 1 frame inbetween). If tyou can't fit the shape in it's ok, just go to the next shape in the dialog and the movement between the two will cover it. Hope this was useful. Awesome characters on your site by the way. I'm a big fan of your stuff!

Thanks anticz,

Do you have some best tutorial for lip sync ?

I don't know if these will help but they're what I'm using:

http://www.keithlango.com/lipSync.html

I don't know what software you used but there's a couple of helpful plugins and a couple of tutorials on highend3d.com.

I really haven't made it far enough for my animation to to start lipsyncing yet so I haven't been too hardcore into it yet.

Btw, I really enjoyed your stuff. It rocks!!!

Can't think of any great tut's off hand. I haven't checked out Kieth Lango's yet but his pop-thru tut is great.

And orc named Viking!!

I love the concept, very original.

He looks a bit too intelligent ofr an orc, however...

Thanks for the tutorial and animation. You have an interesting way of starting your mesh. Did you just make the nose first and then extrude edges. Or did you build it in parts?

Awesome character:airguitar

I just make the nose first..
Some times I'm starting on eyes some times nose,
But when the nose or eyes done, I create the others and I combine all together.

wow,
animation and modeling looks great! -- just one comment, im not sure if you really got a chance to model below the neck, but he seems to not have any shoulder muscles or shoulder movements...i would think this would add more realism to it....but i love everything else
