View Full Version : Volume Shader dont cast shadows :( with Mental Ray

Very funny issue here guys, I have a heavy scene with lots of polies and nurbs and also have these giant chimneys like the ones at nuclear plants with thick smoke coming out. I render the scene with M.Ray and FG but the problem is when i render the scene smoke do cast shadows on the floor and other objects but not on itself, so it looks all white, no dark shade under. However when i render a small region on smoke area this time it also casts shadows on it self and looks correct. I tried with preview and production settings, raytraced and shadow map settings, checked and unchecked re use shadow maps and all but i didnt work, so I am working on fluid effects to create a more satisfying look for smoke but renderin time becomes and issue then, pls advice
