This is my first time posting on this site. What I am looking for is some general feedback on my demo reel. Iíve been doing 3D as a hobby for a while and consider myself to be a generalist. Iím starting to think about going into animation for a career.

I did all the work on the reel with the exceptions of the car and airplane models (and the music). Compositing and particle effects are what I enjoy doing the most, so it would be great to get some advice in that area.

Thanks,

Is it a good or bad sign when there is no reply to a post?

look cool, for your first demo! this is your first demo reel? and your look new in CG Field, is cool but keep working to improving your skills, at time you will see in your demo reel is more than your jobs is your stile!

Looks good Matt, I especially appreciate the artistic stuff, the stylized versus the realistic.

I would drop the plane, the kitchen chair and the electrical box from the reel. Those segments look more like studies then complete works.

There is a thread or motiff that connects much of the remaining work. In my opinion that is your strength.

The town, the wagon, the church(?) and the desert scenes were intriguing and the stop motion work blended nicely with the Max stuff.

As for looking for feedback, Van Gogh spent the greater part of his life creating masterpieces. The only encouragement he ever received was from his brother.

Vision does not come from outside; it comes from within. The world is full of soulless technicians.

Keep working.

nice, i take you are a big fan of silent hill? good song selection too.

i would only suggestwhen you send in your reel say what job your looking for. maybe i missed something, but there sure was alot of stuff going on. particles, some character animation, non organic animations. just seemed all over the place but i liked all of it. the spinning chair i thought was the best. i liked that.

Thank you for your comments. I agree that I do not have a clear focus. I'm working on it. I kind of like the chair and the plane but they might not fit with the rest of the stuff.

Thanks again for the comments.
