hello i need to get a render for pbillboards and its using maya vector, the thing is that the final image will hve to be 2 meters height by 3.7 meters lenght
i believe that the billboard printers print at 150 dpi so if i use this equation the this would have to be the size for the final image

eq px = inch * dpi

1. px = (200cm * 2.5 ) * 150dpi
px = 500inch * 150dpi
px = 75000

2. px = (370cm * 2.5 ) * 150dpi
px = 925inch * 150dpi
px = 138750

so the final image would have to be 75.000px in HEIGHT by 138.750px in LENGHT

THE PROBLEM
mayaVector renders only at a max of 1600 px
and i can't use the tile command cuz mayaVectorRender command doesnot allow any overrides

PLEASE HELP ANYONE..

tx in adnced for any solutions

First of all, your math is wrong... It should be "1. px = (200cm / 2.5 ) * 150dpi".
150dpi is a bit too much I think, I would go with 75 for such a large print.

If you output a small image at the AI (adobe illustrator) format: You can open it at the resolution you want...
That's the strong point of vectors!

Or you could use mental ray instead contour rendering in Maya 6 is very easy with mental ray...

tx Guys

Tobbe :

1 inch = 2.568 cms ( an inch is bigger than a centimiter, so i divide the amount of cmts times 2.568) tx my bad. :)

and about the 75, yeah, i think so too, i asked a friend a he said " do 300 dpi at 1/3 of the size or do 75 dpi at the real size." [ any comments on that??]

rollmops:

tx i'll try that, though i know that render in AI format does not support Reflections, ( but i can fix that prob simce thee are not that many reflections

Kabab

i originally tried and its not that simple, or i was doing it wrong, but yeah, i think that for future renders or if this goes to billboard, i might do some testing and re assign mateerials and fiz some of the lighting

In all and all, thanks peeps for the reply

so i have a general print quesiton..

maya renders at 75 dpi..

so i should just mainly worry about the px dimetions at 75 dpi, to get the image to be crisp enogh right?

Well tx again for the replyes guys its really really much appreciated

All the Best
