View Full Version : Formula Based nurb Curves??
russ_c 06-21-2004, 10:41 PM Is it possible to create curves that are based on equations? This would be similar to how a calculator graphs arcs based on a formula rather than curves based on control point locations. I would really like to find a way to create equiangular curves:

Would you JUST want to be able to create equiangular curves [this would be relatively easy], or would you want to be able to feed in any equation, and it gives you the resulting curve? If the latter, would you want it to be able to output surfaces as well?
BTW, what would you be using this tool for? Would the curves be a starting-off point for a model, or would you be using it purely as a visualisation tool?

i've wondered this recently. i have a shape that's parabolic i recently sketched and would very much like to enter the equation and vary the values. and i'd use it for modeling. if i want to do this now i have to use my CAD package and export back to maya. would rather stay inside maya.
