ok I figured out what to do for this GC, Jedah ( AKA. Smoothly-dressed Grim Reaper) is from japanese video game Darkstalkers Revenge by capcom,
here's the concept
here's the story ;)
Jedah, who was resurrected in the barren outskirts of Makai, laments over a miserable state he has foreseen for the next world, which will be perched on the verge of destruction. "It is foolish and meaningless to fight and plunder each other. No one can save this world except me," he grumbles.
To save all forms of life, every soul needs to be united so as to become one soul; only then will the world be without violent conflict. However, Jedah required a durable container that is capable of holding all the souls in order to prevent him from from making the same mistake that he made with Berial, the Evil King, 100 years previously.
Jedah came up with an idea of collecting the most valuable souls, and then uniting himself to their combined essence, creating one container large enough to safely confine all the other souls.
With benevolence in mind, Jedah lands on his feet within the dark entity. The travelling black void is itself the container called majigen, the spiritual creation of Jedah.

Hope you do a good job on this one! Darkstalkers is full of excellently designed characters - all evil too :twisted:

Jedah is an awesome choice.
This one should be cool to see in 3D, you going to animate all his special moves? :twisted: :D

hehe glad you guys like my choice, I was about to do one of my villains I even rendered it out in pencil (gee that too a long time) then when I opened maya to model, I couldn't resist the juicy idea of modeling one of capcoms, because there character TOP I'm trying to make the model as authentic as I can to the jedah in darkstalkers, so crits or tips would be excellent :D.. thanks

I did some shape tweaking on the head, and added those wing things ( wait a minute what the hell are those things? ), I'm runing backk to maya..

Jedah is BY FAR my favorite Capcom Char. I cant wait to see him in full 3D with his Scythe :D

Good progress - good use of polys and nice topology. Should turn out to be a bona fide piece. I woulda designed morrigan or hsien-ko (lei lei) just for the sheer design of them - but i guess they aint 'evi' enough.
Theres this book called capcom design works - i reccomend you get it - its the best artbook i own - packed full of excellent designs and illustrations from all of capcoms games.

Glad you like it - its a really good book - the perect format ( nice and compact ) really thick, it includes virtually every capcom game ever made as well as some making of stuff, comic strips, logo galleries and a day in the life of a capcom employee thingy (in japanese text!)
The chunky, bright OTT art is just my cup of tea - especially on the megaman and rival schools sections.
hope you can get it ok - its not exactly mainstream material...

Ow! love the support.. the last few days I've had to take a break while looking for work, anyway this morning I told myself Jedah can't get around with only a head so I made him everything else he would need to walk kick and slash with his long bloody fingernails..
OO?! woops I forgot the Scythe.. :eek: update soon

Looks great - probably my fave design and model of the comp so far! The textures will make or break it...
How are you doing them? realistic, or capcom-esque?
Rival schools had a semi celshaded look that worked well, though id like to see this fella textured in detail.

Andy H I'll be hitting at realistic, :D hope I can get what I want out of the texturing in time...
Keiyentai thankfully I was able to make Jedah, then squeezed his scythe in a tri count under/exactly a 3000 tri limit fweeeww! I had to do some optimizing in a few places nothing heavy.
sorry for the late update I'm actually doing textures right now, this update I should have posted yesterday but my Internet connection was severed all night.

ok I just got Jedah's head wip't maybe complete, I tried the solid color thing but it just wasn't working for him. ;) so I decided to through a little of my 2 cent on the texture.

hey guys thanks! :thumbsup: I think I'm done with Jedah now, even though I had 3 weeks I actualy only worked for 3 days, I'm almost sad I'm not helping to putting together a real 3d VS game, it WOULD make a mint... :twisted:
ah also I can't decide witch is better :rolleyes:?!

Don't know if has a seperate scythe though. I think he creates the scythe from his wings as far as I could tell.

Very nice work. Stays true to your concept. Mesh looks great. The texturing is ok. I know you were pressed for time towards the end, and it shows. As one of the judges mentioned...some of your highlighting, although looks cool in a metallica kinda way, doesn't produce specific shapes in certain areas. I hope the next contest allows a little more time to work on specifics like this.

Look awesome but his Sytche is made from his wing. My only crit >_< sorry fanitic about DarkStalkers and a picky person too >_> lol same way about SNK chars :D anywho great model.
