View Full Version : Over sub divivding! help!
3d123 06-21-2004, 04:14 PM Hi, im making this model and i have it so it is just how i want it. Before i would subdivide and it would would change shape completely. So i changed the strenth a bit and now it is good, but it is forming lines like when you over subdivide or something like that, because when i change the laterations lowers they fade away but when the shape it too blocky. So how do i sort this problem of the lines, but so i can keep my shape the same?
thx

show us an image of your problem...

I think you should try methods like chamfering to keep the original shape instead of using crease and strength settings (which I think is what you're doing).
There is a lot of good information on this in the Theoretical Sub-d thread (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=40373) here.
Also an image of what you mean is always very helpful, I'm not trying to offend you but "lines" isn't very specific. And please read your own sentences before you post them; there are many unnecessary errors in there, like you typed it down in 10 seconds.
It just makes reading (and understanding) your posts much easier when you have a clear layout.
Anyway, good luck!
