Have you notest Mr. Letterman's Microphone on his table ?
Well, here it is. :hmm:

Rendering done in MAX 4.26. No textures.

All the holes are done with Boolean (AutoCad).

@xtrm3d

The render is fRender with a HDRI-background. The white dots you see in the shadow are caustics from the crome.

The main problem was to place the lightboxes around the microphone for the reflection.

@nez

Do you really think it needs AA ? Where ? Maybe it's the DOF ?

I don't believe I see Letterman in the reflection, right? ;)

Are you a Hippie? :p

hehehe, I see what you mean. You are talking about my Avatar.

No it's just a cutout from my tag I'm using on a danish 3d-board.

I think it looks great!

To quote Alex Lindsay (ex ILM and current dvGarage grunge guru) "It needs to be broken up. "Add a grunge map"

Of course - considering you used Autocad you may not be trying to get a realistic look so take that with a grain of salt.

@muttoab

Sorry about my poor english, but what does "add a grunge map" means ?

cy, its grime, dirt, etc. it makes the surface look sorta dirty like everything is in the world, and breaks up the light highlights

I wouldn't add grunge(dirt), I would add a slight scratch map to the diffuse slot! =):beer:
edit
Might try it in the specular also, I know 1 of these will give a nice effect, try each 1 seperate, and then try both together as well, I'm getting old my memory is going! lol:)
