View Full Version : Interior:BladeRunner style
LarsSon 06-21-2004, 04:39 AM Hi,
My favourite movie gave me this idea/vision.
I just started this yesterday.
It's goin to be much more dirty and detailed. There are still major things
missing, like stairs, one big window and other basic structural things.
I'm trying to find dark and rainy atmosphere. Roof leaking, water and dirt
on the floor etc. It's old stylish from 20's, but something like lights, is telling,
that actually it's year 2029 or something like that.
What could be made better?
Is it anything like i descriped?

looks really good, maybe add some more unregular stuff. the way it is now, it looks too perfect and clean :) but perhaps you really tried to make it like that.
otherwise i do not have anything to critique

Thanks GrezdogYes, i agree. It's still too regular. I had to make these basic things first until
i add more details. But this is the base building where i start.

I love the atmosphere, perfect there. I agree with it being too regular. I would turn off some of the lights on the railing, maybe even have a few laying askew or complete off the railing, have some of the railing missing or broken ... something to really give the dilapidated look as in the movie .. which is my favorite also.
as I said you really hit the atmosphere right on.

unclebob: thanks for your comments :)
Yes, you are right too, i have to agree. Maybe i was too much looking after
atmosphere. So, next i have to do some changes. It could be good idea
to have broken lamps and some missing railings.
But first i have to model few basic things, stairs and huge window.
Any more comments? Anyone?

That image surely has tons of atmosphere. I find it very similar to the building where J.F. Sebastian lives, and it's one of my favourites. Maybe you should add an elevator instead of stairs, it would add to the futuristic look.
I agree with the rest that some more chaos would help the image. Maybe some pieces of paper lying on the floor, or pieces of furniture, pieces of the building itself, etc...
It would be nice if you animated it, with rain falling through holes in the roof, and lights moving outside.
I like the slight fisheye you put on the camera, too.
Overall, very good work, I don't forget it's still WIP

Thanks for your kind comments! :)
Staniol: i love that water too. I wasn't sure does it look enough water like,
maybe it does. Yes, it's still empty. I want to think carefully what i'm going
to add there.
Zenzuke: It is the same building where J.F. Sebastian lives. I'm not going to
copy it totally. But trying to create basicly same kind of place with same
cold and dark atmosphere. And definetly there have to be rain faling and
leaking.
I will animate it later, but it's going to be really hard process.
Because i'm not saving anything, this scene is quite huge.
over 2 milj. faces, 2200 objects and over 600 lights at the moment.
With gi on, rendering time was 5 hours.
