Posted Monday June 18TH 2004: 10:00US EST
Welcome to the cgtalk sketch group.
We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.
These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* 640 x 480 or 480 x 640
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" o plagiarizing.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
* Ill post ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.
Good luck
-Roberto

I had a lot of fun joining in here this week and thanks for the warm welcome, also thanks again for all the nice comments. :)
Someone asked about a tutorial, no I don't have any.
Mine is just silly and when I saw that new frontier text the only thing I could think of was Star Trek, I really loved that original series.
20 minutes, photoshop and yea tricks. :)

And image tumbed on a rose-swept bay,

Many elves were lost at the end of the second and third age against the forces of Mordor. What once was livliehood and joy is now all but escaped them, or so it seemed. The first ships to reach the Undying Lands however renewed these hopes and thus was the beginning of a new age for the last race of elf.. ;)

Alright. Finally managed to get on top of things and now I hope to be in here close to everyday, improving my drawing skills :) Sorta distressed that two topics I suggested had already been used, and I wasnt even around to draw anything :hmm:
Anyway.. heres my sketch.. Combination of Pencil and Ink (a rough/quicker version of the style I have adopted in drawing) .. took 1 hour and 30 minuites. I normally would have inked in the entire image, but the idea was portrayed well enough with half still in pencil. Besides.. my current pens are almost outta ink and I still need some left for writing tonight :p
And just incase somebody can't see it.. its a fly, about to go exploring in somebodies nose while they sleep.

Hi:
"6.000 ft beyond man and time"
http://www.sirpatroclo.virtuabyte.cl/nietzsche.jpg
1 hour 15 minutes , Photoshop and a Wacom
pasto- amazing, simple, great lighting and color (I thought of the first scenes of My Neighbour Totoro)
bumskee- great contrast of colors, that blue in the shadow constructs the whole pic, good composition
****************
What I intended to do:
http://www.sirpatroclo.virtuabyte.cl/depictnietzsche.jpg
- The red arrows show the desired path for the viewer to follow, first stopping at the eyes, then redirecting towards the nothingness beyond [now that I think, he's pointing at my avatar :D ]. I'm afraid that instead of getting that effect I just got the two points to compete against each other...
- The mountains and first row of clouds are framing the nothingness to accent it as a element of the composition, not just an empty space.
- The colors and shapes try to say "it's a happy day to go beyond good and evil" or "go beyond man and become a superman" [or "look, I can see your house from here!"]. Just to contrast nihilism with happy pop.
- Can anyone advice me about what to do to avoid those shaky lines when drawin with a Wacom??
Great work everyone!
Cheers

Sir Patroclo
1 - The mountains are high chroma and move the eyes to the left inthe beginning a bit, not s much, to start of f the at the bottom with your first arrow, it has to be brighter (depth?) or a hand there, something not roughly in the same color family as you have, maybe a fist to signfiy a kind of urgency that gives charcter to your drawing
2 - your space handlign is well i dotn think thats a problem
3 - neat (: very well thought might need to bring out such thought though, as deep complex themes usually (unless you're a great artist o_O) require deep complex drawings :Z
4 - practice lol
awesome stuff m8!
