I'm sure you are all tired of answering interesting and smart questions, here in the Max forums. That's why I thought I would come aboard and ask a really stupid one. :)

Yes, I did a search, BTW... the answers were not forthcoming.

How do you render (using Max 5 default scanline renderer) a scene with the edges on?

Is taking a screenshot of the work area the only way to do this?

Thanks!

well. ...i´ve done this just by rendering two times, shaded and wire,... and then playing with that in aftere effects,...

note: wire must be rendered as TARGA ,.. alpha channel helps

There is a plugin called `edge map` you can search for it. If you dont find it mail me. Its good I use it.

Hope that helps.

make a clone of the object, then give that a 2 sided wire material...then add a push modifer bump it like .2 or .3 percent....also make sure the wire material is 100% self illuminated.

Another way:

Make a Gradient Ramp in your Diffuse Channel, set the gradient type to box and make your gradient all white with a tiny spec of black at one end. Then apply that to your model with a face map. The wider you make the black bit at the end the thicker your edges will be.

It`s a bit messy, but it`s pretty quick if your just want a quick render.
