Ok, so I recently started using the Firefox browser as my primary Internet browser. Ever since I installed it and set it as my default browser, Maya is unable to even open the help files.

I can set a bookmark in Firefox, and that seems to work, but the search function doesn't work. Also, I can't seem to get Maya to revert back to using IE as the primary browser.

I hope some of you on this board use Firefox and can help me out. It is more important to me to have the help working, than using this browser.

Thanks

What version of Maya are you using? There will probably be a problem with 4.5 since the search function, I believe, uses a COM component that can only be used by Internet Explorer. Maya 5.0 and 6.0 have built-in help servers which can be used with any web browser, and work great with Firefox.

Hmmm...Yeah, I use 4.5.

Well, crap. I guess I'll just bookmark it in IE, and use it that way, and keep Firefox my default browser...

i had problems with 4.5 and firefox.... used to say something like 'C is not a registered protocol' but 5 works fine [except sometimes when batch rendering, the localhost lookup takes me to www.localhost.be which is #1 on google's ranking for 'localhost''].

only reboot seems to sort that out.

still glad to have firefox instead of ie though

you seen 'quick note'?!
