View Full Version : S&T for WireMesh rendering?
acmepixel 06-15-2004, 12:17 AM Paul Everett has a nice plugin for rendering wireframe mesh;
http://www.tools4d.com/Wireshader/wireshader.htm
But I have S&T now, and was wondering if it can achieve the same effect? I haven't had time to play with it yet but have a project this week. So I was hoping someone had tried this to see if it was possible before I dove in myself.
I didn't want to spend the money on Wireshader because I'm saving up cash for his 10comm plugs.
Thanks,
(I feel like an Addict, but instead of drugs, it's plugs). :eek:

Maybe something like it, but I don't think S/T lines can catch shadows, cast shadows, etc. Maybe there is a way to put an S/T shader in the alpha channel so it could mimic this behavior....
On the other hand, Wireshader is only about $35, and it might make more sense to just buy it since you would likely spend at least a few hours struggling to get WireShader effects out of S/T - and time is money.

well you could drop it into atom array..and keep cylinder radius and sphere radius the same..so you use actual geometry...or use ditools tessa again using actualy geometry.
i've got pauls wireshader..great stuff..never thought about using it in s&t though...would have thought it was possible in S&T anyways...would need to check that out first.

Ok, I fiddled with S&T a bit and to answer my own question, yes. S&T can, not only do a variety of wireframe effects but, it comes with some wireframe preset styles. S&T is very powerfull.
But that does not mean Paul's shader is any less valuable. It's advantage over S&T is speed, both in set up and render.

S&T deserves more time for exploration. Lots of interesting possibilities.
But I'm taking mikeh64's advice. I just ordered Paul's wireshader. It's fast and does what I need for this project "right out of the box".
