For those of you who have been waiting for Service Pack 2, but had problems with the RC1 Installer or would like to move beyond RC1, RC2 is now on WindowsBeta. You should all wait for a couple of hours and not slow down my download though, just to be nice... :wavey:

why not get it from the official Windows site ?

AVI movie files encoded with DIVx fail to play correctly.
* Explorer may crash of not respond when a directory where these files are stored is opened.
* IE can fail to respond when a webiste which contains DIVx encoding is opened.
* Microsoft Commerce Server may not work correctly on build 2142.
* WinDVD may fail to start correctly.

Sounds like a great update :P

Second! After installing motherboard drivers (incl. sound, ide, and ethernet), my computer failed to startup. Thank you rushed out rc2...

[edit[ Found the problem. Don't install the nVidia IDE drivers on a clean SP2 install...

to be honest every one just dont install all these lame updates. thier poinless i cant see what i need from all these patches apart from frustration.

sp2 cant offer me anything i dont all ready have.

unless sp2 contains exploit patches then thiers nothing i need.

P2, despite what many people here have posted, will be a great thing for IT support (barring the final release introduces too many bugs, which it shouldn't--often times these "bugs" that service packs have previously introduced are actually problems with the code of the software you are trying to run.) The good thing about this service pack is not that it is convinient for you or I, that it has any truely "new" features other than making hidden features more easily seen, or even that it blocks popup ads that we IT guys never get to begin with. This is great for HOME USERS, the people who call into the IT help desk, the people at home STILL bombarding dell tech support with calls about "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" errors (an error that IWORM.MSBLAST.GEN generates if you didn't know). The firewall being enabled BY DEFAULT in and of itself will be the biggest help. Again, this firewall would have prevented many problems hoe users often have if they would simply enable the firewall themselves, but they apparently never do.

well then people will call the helpdesk saying "welll damn you people, I can't get application xxx to connect to the internet" because of the firewall :bounce:
