Welcome to the cgtalk sketch group.
We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.
These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* 640 x 480 or 480 x 640
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" o plagiarizing.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!

I was working on this piece when the next topic was announced, and this fitted the topic quite well. I tried to give the zombie an expression on his face but he turned out too damn small :banghead:
anyway, this took a little longer as normal (I guess 4 hours or st) but it's also my best DSG entry so far :p So crit away if you want, it's great to receive crits

[edit] here's the large version (1024*768). Expression is a little better visible (http://csr.oli.tudelft.nl/huizen/hg/portfolio/2d/images/themask.jpg)

Wow. Great work Garma. Your stuff has really changed recently and gotten a lot more moody. I don't know whether your style has changed or you always did stuff like this and are just showing it more now. Good work on the lights and shadows. Keep it up.

Hey Garma this is definetly your best piece! :applause:
so here are some crits. Moonlight isvery cold so you could make
the sky more blue. I can see that you added some blue shadow
on the left side of the trees. That's actually good!
Now where is the red light coming from? Is it a torch in front of
the head? If it is so you can sharpen the shadows more.
Fire has dark sharp shadows.
The background environment could be more blue because of
the blue sky. The light of the torch wouldn't reach the horizon.
You could add saturated orange highlights in the face. Remember
that the lightest areas are those facing the lightsource directly.
There are no highlights in the face yet.
hope this helps.
again great improvement!
here is a quick one from me. Not really satisfied with.

I'm excited that you guys like it, loads of thanks guys :)
I'm actually practicing very much to improve, and I also asked some profs for advice on technical approaches and these certainly help a lot :)
Zzacmann: My style definately changed the past few days, it's another approach. :) I still need to find out how it will turn out with daylight scenes, but that's probably more practicing. thanks a lot. Your work is very inspiring.
Goro: crits from you mean a lot to me. I will certainly keep them in mind. Thanks again! The idea was to create a very dark (unnatural dark) forest behind the foreground but I should've added some more dark trees I guess. The light was indeed meant to be some sort of torch/fire. I'll sharpen the shadows next time
Actually a lot of crits I receive go straight into a doc file for later reference.
Allright, time to repay :)
J_Grieve: lol, cool concept
Goro: Great work again. It's fun to see how you use art principles I've just been reading about in a book I bought.
neednoname: cool, but isn't it weird that his pants still look that good after X years underground? ;)

Little qualifier, since it may be a touchy subject for some... just a jab at the media for having a 8 day, one-track-mind... The commentator is not really a zombie, just been awake way too long covering the same thing.

Ilikesoup and animation angel: Very funny
made in uterus: Ilike it very much. Maybe you can make him a little more green so ít's more obvious that it is a zombie.
RobertoOrtiz: Good idea.
Bonzo: Funny.

Great work from all, particularly Matthew-S. Get that zombie some roadies and a bucket of chronic. Looks like he's moping in a corner.
