I just saw an interview with Eric Arroyo, a Bungie artist working in Halo 2, that appeared in Discovery Channel. In this interview Eric explains that every model will have that much more detail, and that they are doing this with bump maps.
Now, my question is: does anyone know if this is achieved with the regular bump mapping settings found in a regular 3D package (Maya, 3DSmax, XSI, LW)?
Or rather with some inhouse made scripts?
Also, while at this, does anyone know what is their primary 3D modeling package?

Thanks in advance,

DPC
P.S. Should you want to check this interesting interview file head to Depths of Oddworld (http://www.depthsofoddworld.com/downloads_videos_new.htm), it's the top file (84Mb), at about the 20 min. If the file is no longer available from here, let me know and I'll make it available from my webspace
