I have a new ms mouse and I have lost the use of the middle mouse button (scroll button) to use it to perform regular tasks within various programs. Does anyone know what the setting is to set it back to the way my old mouse did things (standard setting, usually allowed me to rotate viewports and so forth)

Thanks for the help

Well iso, you left out some needed info like which OS you are using, which mouse you have and the drivers you are using for it.

If it is a 5 or 6 button mouse you may need the firmware drivers but if only a standard 3 button (with wheel) try removing the driver for it, reboot and let windows find a default driver for it. This will usually work and you should get that function back.

I couldn't figure it out myself in the new intellipoint software that comes with the mouse, but here are two possible solutions that make your mouse work in software like maya:

1) Get Intellipoint software 4.x (that's what I use)

...OR if you don't want to get intellipoint 4.x....

2) open the task manager and kill the intellipoint software (point32.exe) when you want to work in maya

well after a bunch of trial and error it seems that the "autoscroll" setting is the one that sets things back to the way the were.

This is for a MS intelli mouse using the intellipoint (4 I think) setup.

Thanks for the help
