View Full Version : Just a question about sliders and motion mixer
chris_lwgr 06-11-2004, 11:25 PM Hi guys just a question about sliders and motion mixer.I have a walk and a run cycle with weight curves.I made 2 sliders with ranges 0-1.The first slider controls the walk cycle and its value is set to 1(weight curve). The second slider controls the run cycle and its value is 0(weight curve).I want a third slider to control the other 2 in such a way that when slider 3 is 0 then the other sliders is 1 and 0.When its 1 then the others go to 0 and 1.I have tried expressions, master channels etc but it seems not to work.I want this automation because a have some thoughts about crowd animation and i want to test it.Thanks in advance.

I think you can make this:
Add a Master Channel (number type) we say you call it Master, then go to the envelope of the first slider and add a Channel Follower (Add Modifier) and tie it to Master (MC) with Scale to 100%; then you go to the second slider and make the same thing, but this time with Scale to -100%.
Then add a Null (Add Custom Object / Slider) and rename it for example as master_slider, in properties of the slider select the channel MC: Master, with range from 0 - 1. Supposedly when the value of this slider is in 0, the slider 1 value will be 0 and the value of the slider 2 will be 1; and when this slider (master_slider) is 1, the value of the slider 1 will be 1 and the slider 2 will be 0.
Hope it works.

I tested it with simple translations for light and camera and works fine, but for motion mixer with with some clips and weight curves it does`nt.Maybe its a problem with motion mixer because the graph seems to change(in dotted line) but nothing happens. Thanks anyway.

I've had the same problem. It seems sliders, expressions and such will add the dotted-line of 'intent' on a Motion Designer channel. But it only actually responds to editing the channel itself directly. Blegh.

Is there any solution to this problem or it happens because of some limitations of the program?
