Some character's I modeled for animation purposes. Toon shaded to fit with the rest of the piece.

3DS Max 6 - 56,000 faces and 59,000 faces respectively.

This is the 'clean' version. Still working on the roughed-up blood (and/or oil) stained one.

the girl looks great :thumbsup: but I think the robot could do with some tweaking, the knee joints are very basic and really don't look like they could work,I'd add some more detail to the upper legs as well.

Damn, I love the cartoon looking renders. Hard to tell it's 3d. Looks great but the lower portion of the robots legs look too thick in comparison to the rest of the 'body'. Nice work!

Thanks for the feedback and not a bad idea on the robot joints; a minor tweak below. I had to restrain myself from overdetailing since I need to maintain a certain streamlined consistency overall.

I'm going to defer any changes to the robot legs until later because he is seated in a vehicle and they can't be seen anyways. (must keep those polygons in check)

On the plus side, I managed to save another few thousand polygons by removing the interior faces of the woman's belts and straps.

Now both meshes are averaging 12 secs per frame @ 720 x 480 which should do quite well considering the significantly larger backgrounds.

Hopefully any changes on these two can be made within a few days so any feedback is welcome at this stage.

Aside from the robot joints already mentioned, the piece isn't aesthetically pleasing sorry to say. If this is for a poster type shot, (which it sounds like from your decription below the pic) your poses need to be more dynamic and interestering. Take the girl for example, I can't tell if she's using her right hand to shade her eyes from a bright light (such as the sun) or saluting, and even if it's either or, it looks wrong, same with the bot. If she is saluting, just take reference from military soldiers.
Another thing that bothers me, are the stances, they're are apparently heroes of some sort, yet they're not presented that way, if she's a pilot (another thing I can't make out) where is her helmet? maybe have her hold her helmet to let us know that is who she is, maybe add some flight patches or such to her outfit. There's much more but I think you get the idea. The renders are great, you just need to push the final image more.

Hey Tito, been a while-
Yeah you're probably right about the pic itself. I should have clarified I was seeking feedback on the completed model itself as opposed to image composition. Seems the models are mostly sound so far; thankfully no particular problems that can't be tweaked.

You could say the 'aesthetically pleasing' / 'final image' is the animation itself (some 2-3 months away from completion). The woman isn't a pilot though there is an aerial aspect to the piece; this is one of the background/supporting vehicles (yet to be fully toon integrated but optimized medium-low polygon for large fleet renders to be sure)
