The story behind it is based off of a civilization that uses machines to reap the energy from nature. A balance of technology and nature instead of a struggle but it looks a little twisted. Chlorophyll is initially processed in the trees and then the machine turns it into nutrients and energy stores for the body and other machines. Smaller forms of plant life just produce light. I thought it was sort of an interesting idea to paint. It's going to be a struggle to get the lighting right. Glowing tree lights at night...part of me wishes I did a landscape instead but I wanted to focus on the energy ports and how nature would work with machine.

I hope you enjoy the sketch :)

Looking really good. I like your concept too.

I can't wait to see how the painting works out. Knowing you, it'll look awesome, but you still won't like it, but rest assured, it'll be bad ass.

Painting progress I feel is going well. Still a lot of challenges to work through. I have no idea how I'm going to do the bark. Might do some concept sketches of it but it's nice to get some color on it. Feel less lost on what to do there. I'll post more later tonight. :)

I feel like I made some decent progress in the last 2 nights, tried to get rid of the white sketch paper some how that's a relief. Hopefully I'll have more to update tomorrow. Time grows short.

Hey!!!!!

I really like your progress so far. Looks pretty damn sweet.
I'm digging the colors. I didn't think your were gonna go dark with it. I thought it was gonna be a little lighter, but it still looks kick ass.

My Crit (for now):
Your concept is described as: "machines to reap the energy from nature" , but at the moment, your dark background has kind of taken out the "Nature" part of it. It's a little hard to make out the trees and such in the background.

Like I said, I know how you are with your painting process, so I know there's a lot more going on in your head. I just wanted to put that thought on your head a little.

Lookin' GREAT!! though.

oh yeah!!! how's my painting going? ;)

:) Shaner!

Hey thanks for the crit. I agree. Foilage and glowing background is hopefully on the way. I still have alot to do. I'll be posting again tonight so keep me posted and any ideas are welcome.

I need your new reel asap sir.

Check your mail. :-D

I think this is looking good thus far. My only comment is that the overall color harmony isn't working for me. You basically have black, green and purple, and each color is jumping out from the next. Maybe the green on the bottom is too intense at the moment. I'd really like to see an overall wash of a warm color on this piece. It might help to unify it a bit more. Good job!!:applause:

Here's the line art for my painting. I brought in my sketchbook to scan some initial concept drawings. Hopefully I'll get that up tonight too.

This was the first drawing I did. I'm sorry all the images are out of order. I use my work computer to upload. I was thinking of leaf like solar pannels but didn't like how it looked and ruled it out in the end.

Here's where I am to date. Still a few long nights left I'd say. Keep the feedback coming. :-)

Thanks,

Rebecca

Hello,

I do appriciate your feedback on the color. Although I'm happy with my color choices. Hopefully my final image will come across clearer.

THANKS!

One other thing I just noticed:

As far as composition goes, it seems a little off balance. You've got a lot going up top, but it seems pretty bare at the bottom. Does that makes since?

Just my $.02

I agree the bottom is bare. the colors and quick painting is just there as a rough. It's better then white paper for now is the stage it's at. Like I said I plan on putting foilage and bark on the tree. Not much work has been done since my last upload but hopefully tonight more can be accomplished. But thanks for the imput. I am aware.
