View Full Version : Displacement Mapping... visible in the viewport?

HI,

This may be a stupid question, but we can't figure it out.

We have put a displacement texture on a poly plane, to affect the plane... but it is only visible when we do a render of the plane. Is there a way to see the displacement of the plane in the viewport before rendering?

How do we displace the mesh, not just the texture/material?

Modify -> Convert-> Displacement to Polygons.

There is a utility -heightField. Connect yuor displasment map to displasment slot of utility. Real time in viewport. I guess it what you need.

True, but it will only be able to display displacement on flat planes.

Galactor, displacement on a flat plane is exactly what we are after... do we need divisions on said plane?

Les.
