This one's supposed to be nasty, hope it is

All done with XSI, 3 imagemaps used, "handpainted" in photoshop.

Looks great!!
I don't really know how they look in real life though :hmm:
I think you should ask someone who's not into CG how it looks. See what they have to say about realism.
But I think it looks pretty real.
Maybe post a picture of raoch so we can compare :D

As one of the few females on this forum, I feel it is my duty to respond in a way that only a female can....

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKK!!!!!!

:p
That's really rather gross.

I only really have one crit - the specularity is too high and not spread out enough, so it's looking a little too plasticky :) Apart from that, it's a great piece

hmmm...Good...

I have seen a lot of cockroaches( tell me if roaches and cock roaches are of the same family)...But one thing i really tell u is making in different from the real is it's legs are short i thing....Yeah 'coz i have seen and killed:D so many of them...so i can tell u that the legs should be a bit bigger.....Other than this nice piece.....BTW, what convinced u to do this:hmm:

okokoko...i got it from ur ref pics.....the roaches have a bit smaller legs than the Cockroaches( that's why they have a smaller name:buttrock: )....so i say ur propertions are exactly the right one:thumbsup:

The bump should be more fine and also lower. Its too wide and strong.

yo not bad, i agree with leigh, bit to shiney there, also they legs look flat, i dont know if thats how it actually moves but it doesnt look like it would walk very well with such flat legs, i think ur ref pics also show that the legs are kinda on their side, maybe hes just laying down, i think u should pick them up a bit see how it looks, or try animating, id like to see how it turn s out

anyways

PEACE

Thanx for your comments ppl. Good to hear that it's disgusting enough!

Leigh, I'm glad to hear your respons he he, about the specularity, you're right, I'll tweak some more when I put the rest of the scene together, you can expect some more "eeek!" :)

sarfarazsoomro, It's just a small part of my project, it was necessary ;)

Juggernaut, hehe thanx m8

Twisted Imperia, I've thougth about that too, I have no idea how they get about walking on those legs, but I think they sort of "crawl" or something :surprised , we don't have such insect beasts where I live so I wouldn't know!

Anyway, here's a 360 rotation render I did to see how it reacts to lights etc.

avi clip, EEEK!!! (http://arvid.ath.cx/bug360.avi) hehe
