View Full Version : Not an animaion master
matty2x4 07-21-2002, 10:57 PM I have access to a video camera that I can then load on to my computer as quicktime movies. If I film someone jumping round or walking silly is there any way I can use these qt files in 4Dxl 7 for movement guides? I thought about making them a whole bunch of stills and bringing them in as background pics 1 by 1, is that the only way (sounds like a heap of work)? Note: no budget...

When you say movement as guides do you mean like mo cap?
Stu.
You can use QT movies as Color maps and then edit them to play as you wish (loop, once, exact frame, exact time, etc).

Yeah kinda like what Bry is heading at. Not motion capture as such but a pictorial guide to the movements I am after. The quicktime colour map on a plane in the background sounds great to me. I will have to test that... dose the QT colour map update to the next frame of the QT movie when you advance to the next frame of your animation?
Thanks Bry

funny this should crop up, only today I have been working on an exhibition stand that has 4 plasma screens on it running video. I have the same quicktime movie running on all screens, but I have set a different starting frame for each screen to give the animation walkthrough thing a bit more variety. the point of all this is that the screens show the different frames in the editor window - so you should be ok... I think you need to click on edit in the material editor and set the movie advance to "exact frame" to be sure you dont miss nowt, thats what i do anyway!
