this is the Handely Page Halifax bomber used in WW2...or close as i can get it anyways...im just wondering how it looks

i used Maya 5.1 for this.

im a noob...so go easy on me:P but crit to your hearts content

Ok first read the forum rules if you have not done so already.

Get rid of the red background it's ugly.

It looks really low poly and the parts just look stuck together
so there are alot of jagged edges.
That's a no no!

I don't know Maya but you should look into Maya and see if it has
Ambient Occlusion.

If it does and it most likely does then try that for lighting.

I really like this, despite the first critique, its very convincing! and I am sure in time you'll get the hang of it all. I would be interested in learning the steps you took in this to get to this stage, I have a keen interest in WW2.

All of the wing and tail surfaces are too heavy and thick. The cross sections are also wrong. The cross section of the tail should look like a rounded tear-drop. The wing must have a very specific cross section in order to generate lift. Basically, wings are generally flat on the bottom (slightly concave for more advanced designs), convex on the top, rounded on the front, and pointed on the back. Do a google image search on "wing cross section" and you will find some examples. /slash
