View Full Version : SHAKE 2.5:- Heat distorion Effect... How to?

I want to create a starship flying really close to the camera, and in another shot the camera follows the starship for a few seconds.

I want to add the Heat effect of the turbine (or engine) of the ship.

How can i create this effect?

I was also wondering if this is done in maya or in a composition program like shake. And how to create it.

Also posted this in Maya forum, though i would like the two approaches to create this effect.

u need some sort of particles. Shake 2.5 doesnt have them by default, so you need either plugins or create them in 3d software, maya, cinema, xsi, whatever... then import the alfa layer of particle animation, track them if needed, and than use some sort of displace node on them... thats it.

you can use any texture/particles....
use the warp-tool: idisplace....
