I'm trying vray and it's true it seems powerful and impressive.
Chrom gave me some good advice and i could quickly understand how to make it work.
However i have a problem with shag fur, it doesn't work with vray, does anyone know how to turn the fur to a geometry ?

I'm almost positive that you cant convert any shag:Hair to geometry. What you could do is to render the hair in a seperate pass with all the appropriate render elements and comp all of it together. Not exactly the same, but I think you could get it decently close. Hope that works :)

You can convert shag hair/fur to geometry, something that is well documented and fairly straight forward.

Set up for geometry in the enivironmental roll out, and then
convert the helper object. It'll now be compatible with any renderer,
but beware as it'll kill all but the highest spec machines.

So I guess u can say it this way.
In theory it can be done, but itīs practicly impossible :D

No, it's not impossible, it's just that if you need to know about the settings to keep the geometry down.
You wont have much fun recreating the environmental look
with geomtry, especially with dense hair, but you will get
decent looking 3 dimensional hair strands.

It's also good for other effects, here I used it for creating
some shoulder/shin pads on a character:

Thanks a lot Matt, i'm going to try it. Let you know how it works for me. :)

I can't make it work, my problem is that i can't find how to convert the helper.
The helper is named Furview and is invisible right ?
When i try to collapse it in the modifier rollout it crashes max. Is this the thing to do ?

Ok i found the reason why, apparently it works with shag hair but not with shag fur.
I'm going to experiment more.

It looks cool if u want thicker hair, but not so good for thin hair, right ?

Apparently it works with every kind of hair but it's too demanding on the machine as every hair is turned into a mesh.
It's an interesting technique for small areas with large hair (less mesh).
