Hey there, i'm a newbie to AE, -just installed it yesterday. i'm wondering if there's a way to set the video playback to my demo reel to 24 f/s, and have the audio play at 30 f/s. when the audio plays at 24, it's really slow and sounds like the batteries are going dead in a tape player. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks

You can certainly separate your audio and video to play at different interpreted speeds. However, this is not a good solution because timing will be totally ruined. The effect you are getting is that when you slow down your footage your audio slows down and consequently the pitch of the audio also lowers.

What you can do is extract the audio and do a proper slow down with audio software which will also retain the original pitch. In AFX:

File > Export > wave

Also note the duration of your slowed down footage.

Then in something like Cool Edit Pro (just an example) you can go:

Effects > Time/Pitch > Stretc> Time stretch (preserves pitch)

Then save and reimport into AFX. You then have preserved pitch and lengthed audio.

You may just have wanted to simply extract the existing audio from your showreel and reimport. Your timing will be all stuffed, but its the same thing: file > export > wave. reimport it and drop it into the timeline. I hope that helps.
