I have a few folks who need info on finding a good “barebones” PC setup from a US retail source. I found some “so called” barebones options from Dell. I suggested the barebones as it seems faster to setup than a completely custom built PC for for the non tech person. I don’t have a clue in the barebones area, I build my rigs from scratch. Basically we were looking for some P4 533/800 mhz fsb and AMD xp setups in the $500 or so range or so with motherboards at support AGP X8 slots and at least 400 watt power and 256 MB Ram. We just need the basic case, cpu, ram rig setup types. I will assist them in putting the rigs together and they will be transferring their old PC stuff over to the new barebones kits. The goal for these machines is 3d gaming and one person wants to try out 3d software.

Has anyone gone this route with their own rig setup?

Thanks for any tips that you can pass my way.
