"BRING YOUR KID TO WORK" by bupaje
Posted FRIDAY June 4TH 2004: 10:00 US EST
Welcome to the cgtalk sketch group.
We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.
These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* 640 x 480 or 480 x 640
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" o plagiarizing.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
* Ill post ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.
Good luck
-Roberto

Hello, everyone,
this is my first post in the daily sketch group. Hopefully it will not be the last, because this is great training for my underdeveloped drawing skills.
I used Bodypaint 2 and an A5 Wacom for it and it took me, ahem, an hour.
Marc
EDIT: How embarassing - after I looked at the other pictures I realised that I completely misunderstood the subject, concentrating on the "bringing" rather than the "at work" Oh, well... next time, Gadget, next time.

Ugh I've seen better days, drawing wise, hope you like the idea at least ^^)
Photoshop CS, around 90 minutes.
Thanks to 'crocodile hunter' for the idea, he took his kids to a crodile farm and held it very close to a crocodile. That wasn't seen as a very good thing to do :p

[edit- Ok, the story seems a little unclear... maybe the sketch is too "sketchy" after all...
It's a spermatozoid dad going to work at the ovule... But his "kid" makes him get late... Get it ? -]

some of these ideas are extremely creative...
aj_23 - way too funny, and you pulled it off quite nicely. your 2nd rocks too.. i like how you have lil mans legs at full blast.. i can definately picture this in motion.
buzz3d - i love the idea, but i love the quality of the sketch even more.
i can only hope mine comes out half as cool as these!
cheers.

Vampire hunting is a pretty intense job, I don't think I'd want to take my kid to work if I were a vampire hunter...
http://www.flatuloso.com/gallerypictures/sketch6.jpg
STAKE HIM... STAKE HIM!!!
Edit - I went in and gave it more intense lighting, as the foreground really didn't fit with the background at all. I'm really happy with what a little bit of heavier shading did, the picture has much more of the intensity I wanted.
So in the end this took 3 Hours in Photoshop w/ a WACOM

A quick one, It's more the idea then the execution.
PS/WT/7M
Hmmm ... maybe this is poor execution of an idea. The baby's father is a surgeon and the thing in hand is a scalpel. I suppose I could have added more to the background to tell the story, but I had already spent too much time on the kid.

Life as a singe working mother can be difficult...Take Sonja (10th level fighter). Last year her husband was mauled to death by a vicious Kobold. Today, unable to find suitable day care, she finds it difficult adventuring the Varooga Quagmire with her three kids in tow...correction: make that two kids.

It made me feel good to get a comment and I can now get rid of the cartoon noose I was drawing to hang myself. ;) Actually I was sort of surprised by how good a few words made me feel so I think I'm going to learn from that and do some more specific virtual back slapping when I get home.
