Hi everyone, I'm new here, and new with Max :)
I started working on an Audi TT Roadster and got stuck with some modelling issues and was wondering if anyone knows some techniques for overcoming them.

I am using Max 5, editable poly.

Here is my WIP:

Smoothed:

Reference Photo1:

Basically, see the red outline on the photo? there is a little bulge with a sharp edge there that I wish to recreate.. not sure how...
Also, to get the window outlined, I selected the window poly's and extruded back 1 unit, then forward 1. Meshsmooth also got rid of the sharp edge in the corners of the window (yellow highlight of photo), but I want it to be the same as the photo.. I don't think weighting the control points would get the effect I want.. and not too sure about smoothing groups.. haven't had a lot of luck with them...
What should I do?

Thanks :)

It looks like you extruded the windows in and then out. If you did, select all the polys that make up the window, click grow (to select one row of the hidden polys), and click detach. How hide the window polys (select the window, right click and click Hide Selected), select the edges that form the 'edge' of the window and Chamfer by a small amount (probably somewhere around 0.2 to 0.5). This will give you a hard edge. Don't bother with smoothing groups or weighting, chamfer is all you need to get sharp edges.

I could post some pics if you need it.

ahh, thanks a lot! I thought it had something to do with chamfering.
Will post more pics as I get more done :)

You may want to try to eliminate some of those 3 sided polys, may cause bumps. Also for the sharp edges you should chamfer a little bit, with a car like this you want to balance curves and hard edges.
