hi, i have bought gforce fx 5700, and the first 2 weeks it was fine.

then it started crashing after using max 6.0 for an hour or 2, but it was no problem, it aoutobackups every 5 mins or so.

but it keeps happening more and more often. and when it happens, it writes something like
"the driver for nvidia fx 5700 is probably the cause of making the system unstable"
and then i can send an error repport if i want to.

so i changed my driver to the 1 that came with a CD with my gfx card. same problems.

and i dl'ed the newest forceware driver from nvidias homepage. still same problem.

and allso i took a screenshot of how my Viewports sometimes look like in 3d max( perspective view is all messed up )

/edit change the **** with the f-word  //
and it has started to crash in 3d games aswell, after 2-5 minutes of playing

(i never had such problems before i got my new gfx card! )

my pc is
pentium4 2k mhz
768 ddr RAM
and i have directX 9.0b
gfx: nvidia g-force fx 5700 (ASUS)

3d studio max 6.0

thanks for reading

and no plugins for max,
and my pc crashes after 2-15 mins depending if its 3d max or a 3d game called "dark age of camelot"

What is your power supply rating? Type?

Is the card getting sufficent ventillation? Is the case?

What type of motherboard are you using? Have you ever run a memtest?

http://www.memtest86.com (run 2-3 passes).

Check your ram first (ya I know if it was fine before, check it anyway, 1st step in troubleshooting freezes/crashes).

Then you need to see if the Geforce is getting sufficent power. We can tell you that from the psu.

If those check out, the ram on the video card could have been damaged and will require an RMA (return materials authorization) from whatever company/store you purchased it from for replacement.

no i havent run that test, i will do it, and try to look into the other things. it will take some time tho. im no computer expert ;-)

edit:

this is my powersupply

400Watt, Active PFC, 120mm Fan, Ultra Lownoise (15-17 db), P4 kompatibel

and theres allso a fan on the motherboard, and even a little fan on the gfx card.

i lost my manual for my motherboard in a train a year or 2 ago, how can i see what type it is otherwise ? all i know is its pentium 4

goliath,

They have an ISO image to download. It can be burned on a blank CD and run.

http://www.memtest86.com/memtest86-3.1a.iso.zip

Remember computers aren't STATIC objects. They are very dynamic.

Saying "It worked fine last week" is the same as saying "But my car started fine last week..."
